On Saturday, December 8th, around 6:30 am Roberta Walker, Executive Director of Cardiff 101, biking and walking advocate, and beloved community leader was involved in a collision with a truck on North Coast Highway 101 near Phoebe St.
Walker sustained critical injuries and remains in the ICU at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Walker’s husband JP requests that at this time their privacy is respected while he focuses on being her health advocate. Her housemate, Heather Bailey has created a website with up-to-date information on her status and ways you can help JP and their family here: https://heambailey.wixsite.com/roberta
Walker is a longtime advocate of improved safety for pedestrian, bikes and autos citywide. As a resident of Leucadia she has been an outspoken supporter of the urgency to implement the N. Coast Hwy 101 Streetscape project that would include significant bike and pedestrian enhancements throughout the busiest and most dangerous corridor in the communities of Leucadia and old Encinitas.
