Since Encinitas incorporation in 1986, the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council has hosted Election Forums to bring candidates for elected city office together to share their perspectives on issues important to our community.

Today, as a committee of Cardiff 101 Main Street, the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council continues to host forums for the offices of Encinitas District 3 Council Member and Encinitas Mayor.

The forums will be moderated by Cameron Adams, reporter with The Coast News, covering Encinitas and Carlsbad. Cameron previously reported for the Frederick News-Post (Maryland), where he covered city government, land use, and agriculture. He also completed an internship with the investigative desk at The Washington Post. Cameron holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from American University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Microeconomics from Washington University in St. Louis.

We invite the public to submit questions for the candidates. Questions submitted by the public will be reviewed by the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council committee and the moderator prior to each forum. Based on past experience, there will be an abundance of questions, and not all questions will be asked. No questions will be accepted the day of the event.

The Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council uses this format in response to the community’s desire for a more local, Cardiff and Encinitas-focused forum, rather than one addressing regional/national issues. Accepting questions in advance allows the moderator to group similar topics and create a more informative, balanced, and cohesive discussion.
