The various construction projects happening in and around Cardiff this past year has created challenges and inconveniences for all of you. We are in the last stretch of the major construction for the double tracking and Chesterfield intersection improvements with two major construction phases coming up.
The project involves modernization and reconstruction of Cardiff Elementary School at 1888 Montgomery Avenue in Cardiff‐by‐the‐Sea. The project site is zoned Public/Semi‐ Public (P/SP) and is within Special Study and Coastal overlay zones.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists may experience short intermittent delays along San Elijo Avenue the week of Monday, May 21 between Verdi Avenue and Santa Fe Drive from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Construction crews will restripe traffic lanes along San Elijo Avenue and place concrete barriers along the west side of the road. Vehicle flagging operations will be in effect during this work.
Construction broke ground on the Cardiff segment of the Coastal Rail Trail in the community of Cardiff-by-the-Sea this month. Community members should expect to see construction crews removing vegetation, verifying the location of underground utilities, installing fencing around environmentally sensitive areas, and placing temporary concrete barrier around the project site.
City receives an award for a project designed by Cardiff 101 Design Committee member and local architect, Stephen Dalton.
As part of the San Elijo Lagoon Double Track Project, overnight and weekend work is planned for Saturday, April 21, from 12:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Monday, April 23, as construction crews continue to lay new track north of Chesterfield Avenue, and prepare recently laid track for eventual train service.
